Hexagonal bolts or Stainless Steel Hex Bolts are a six sided industry standard for fasteners with forged heads. Per usual SS hex head bolts can be used for many various applications which include fastening steel, wood, or other construction materials.

This is because of a phenomenon referred to as passivation which occurs on the surface of SS 304 hex bolt, which in turn protects the alloy from getting corroded by the atmosphere. Alloys with low carbon content are specially designed to assist with welding needs. Hence, this modification in their chemistry. While regular grades like 316 ss hex bolts can be welded, it’s derivative ie. grade 316L creates a potency to welding minus the decay caused by corrosion.
